In and around your face

My razor recently did a walk so I've just purchased a new Philips one.
Inside is this little card that directs me to their site so I can receive "updates on all the latest in shaving."
Hows that work then?

What becomes of you?

As much as I love "The Office" USA, the UK version makes me laugh out loudest.

Gareth could totally take Dwight by surprise from the rear.

Bigger is not better

I recently purchased for my enjoyment, some Asda cupcakes. I have to say, the 1:1 cake to icing ratio isn't the best.

A little less icing, a little more satisfaction please, Asda.

Bigger is not better

I recently purchased some Asda cupcakes as a treat for myself. I have to say, the 1:1 sponge cake to icing ratio isn't ideal.

A little less icing, a little more satisfaction please Asda.

Always say no first?

So after crashing my car a lot of people were giving me advice on what happens with insurance, "they'll make you wait and offer you a low pay out hoping you'll accept," "always reject the first offer." That last one was said A LOT.

I bought my car for £1500. I crossed my fingers that I'd be offered £11-1300, anythin between this figure I'd be happy with. Autotrader had similar cars for about £13/1400.

After almost a month of not hearing a peep from the insurance company and a few people asking if I had a new car yet, I tried chasing insurance company yesterday and was told I'd get a call back. I chased that call up today. A voice finally interrupted the hold music on the other end of the phone, I answered some questions, told them I was chasing up a month old claim and after a few seconds of silence the voice came, back;

"our loss adjusters blah blah blah, and your car is valued at £1382,"

More then I was hoping for. Almost matching the higher bracket of what I had found online for a similar car.

For a few seconds I tried to process this. Everyone had told me that the first offer would be rubbish, that I should reject it. I had to fight the urge to involuntarily say "no, next?" immediately. I kept thinking, "this is more then I had expected, is this some weird ploy? Or is this guy just not in the mood to haggle and offering best price first?" I then realised that I should say something, so I made him repeat the offer, just to be clear. It was the same four numbers. I said ok, I think I did, I was a bit confused. Like a verbal sucker punch in my ear. They said they'd send out the cheque in 5 to 10 days. I hung up the phone, still very confused by what had happened.

In 5 to 10 days, plus cheque clearing time, I should hopefully be in my new car. I'm thinking another Focus or Ibiza.

But that's when the real fun starts. I can then go job and flat hunting. As long as there's no ice.

Must stop looking

I must stop looking at cars ... at least wait until the insurance company return my call.

Mysterious planes

Because of a nearby sky diving centre you don't see or hear planes around here. Sometimes you do hear jets, but they're much too crafty for me.

Best after

So my new life, the one that comes with a new job with colleagues and possibly career, new house mates and new everything, now has an approximate date.

The end of the month.

Rook hunting

Do people still use gumtree.com for house hunting? I'm not sure, but its time I move on from this quiet village.
