Beach Boys

This weekend just gone I had a friend over for a couple of days. We had a good relax down on the beach, a few nights out (one failed beach themed party. If you’re going to throw a beach themed party make sure a few of your customers show up in beach gear) and barbeque.

While down on the beach I got to do a few things that I don’t normally do on the beach, playing frisbee and bat’n’ball.

As much as me and the missus enjoying going down to the beach as much as possible we have very different views on what to do when down there. I get very bored quite quickly if I’m just left with a book or mp3 player so I’ll always be looking to do something active. Go for a swim, snorkelling, anything which passes the time away.

Now the missus she likes to work her tan. I don’t mind working on my tan either but if I stay still for too long then I get much much hotter then if I’m moving about. So she normally takes a book and ipod down to the beach. (I think the reasons for these is to distract her from me looking very bored when it’s too wavey/cold to do anything in the sea.)

So my friend being over and doing some extra activities was possibly one of the best times down on the beach I’ve had.  And despite not playing for a while I’m a damn good thrower of a frisbee. And a very good catcher.

Bat’n’ball, I’’m not so good at.

So now that my frisbee throwing partner has gone, whose going to keep me occupied on the beach?

Everyone knows, girls can’t throw/catch.

Speaking of the beach, that’s where I’ve just got from. I went down a little too early. The missus wanted to top up her tan while there were no crowds (read that as no one AT ALL) and it was a bit chilly to go snorkelling. But I still managed a little bit. Reminds me of when I first moved here.

Very quite this morning

Some fish I can’t spot. Might have to go and relearn my fish species

Looking forward to more snorkelling. Will have to make a day of it while the missus is away over the weekend. See if I can spot any wrasse, goby’s or shiney Cow Bream.

One of those plinky questions: Dreams

What's the last dream you remember having? What do you think it means?

From Plinky.com

I can’t actually remember my last dream.

I remember when I was a little kid I asked my mum what she dreams about? She said mainly the Bible and nothing much.

I thought that was a bit weird.
1st) she isn’t at all religious.
2nd) Adults are boring. Not having dreams. What rubbish.

But now I find myself dreaming less and less.
I hear a lot that dreams are supposed to be ways of your brain strengthening memories. I wonder if this means that I am getting more and more forgetful?

So seeing as I am a boring adult that has no decent dreams I’ll talk about one of my worst nightmares.

That scene in Dumbo when it gets drunk and starts hallucinating. Well that whole dream-esque scene pretty much freaked me out as a kid and I’ve never watched that movie again.

But it appears I have selective fears as I am not scared of elephants or alcohol. Just animated pink elephants.

But seeing as I completely side stepped the question, if you want to leave a dream in the comments section I’ll give it the once over “Robbie dream interpretation” interpretation.

Seems I’ll be missing out

St Patricks Day post

as you may of noticed it was St Patricks Day yesterday
DSCF3504

and like most of the english speaking world i went out for a few drinks
for drinking guinness you got a fancy native irish hat
and there were many hats on the tops of people around town
DSCF3543
from what i can make out this is how all irish people dress

you could get a giant guinness hat for ordering a pint of guinness
im not the biggest fan of the ‘black stuff’ and ordered a half
/just to get in the spirit of things
i asked the bar owner about getting half of a hat or something similar and she came along with a strange shaped hat
DSCF3554
me styling weird mushroom shaped irish hat

about an hour later a friend
/who was irish so knows these things
/pointed out that the hat was on backwards
i made a comment to the bar owner about this and how it should say “front” and “back” and not just guinness
her suggestion

“it should say ‘idiot’ and ‘not idiot’”

but there was much drinking and many merriments

we hit a bar
and i spotted that the bar had a new supercool lazer shooty thing

peeeown

and i strolled in the earlier hours of this morning

luckily i was saved by some ham and egg sarnies this morning otherwise id still be in bed about now

Digg it Friday

A few slight changes to the blog.

First I’d just like to mention that I have recently been using Microsoft Writer to compose my blog posts.
Basically Writer is a free word processor to compose your blog posts for.
It works with any blog service, blogger, wordpress, typepad. It’s easy to use. In fact it’s much easier then using a blog service composer.
You can do many things with it that you’d expect from your normal service, insert links, videos, tags (it even lists all your current tags), pictures (and even toy with how the pictures look, have a look at the ‘Apple-like reflective’ shower picture from the previous post as well as this posts rounded edge photo below) and it even automatically uploads the photos to your service. You can add many blog accounts to it and as it is an offline word processor you can write posts on your travels, save them locally (you can even save drafts online where you’d normally save blog drafts) and upload them when you have connection back. And even edit you recently posted entries.
You can also add loads of plug in’s which allow you to view your flickr page and insert images easier and even have a plug in that updates your twitter account when publishing your blog.
It takes the easy use of a MS Word/Office word processor composing and applies it to blogging.
I reckon you should give it a try. You might never write posts the same again.

Also lizardspot is moving as well. It’s now taken up a small section on twitter as to not take up space here.
Although I thought for a bit that lizardspot was going to be easy this year due to a lizard hot spot right behind our balcony.

This sloping small wall right here. I spotted two lizards in one morning the other day.

Anyway, back to resurrecting my old idea of weekly Digg updates, which will be best on Procrastinating Friday.
Don’t forget you can follow me on Digg here.

  • Everyone by know must of seen ‘Bizkit the sleep walking dog’.

Enjoy your weekend.

Happy Christmas via Flickr

Do you have a favourite pic on flickr that you would like to Christmas-up?

Well all you have to do is add a new note with the text "ho ho ho hat" or "ho ho ho beard" and you get a Santa hat or beard that you can resize on any of your photos.

Also adding "?snow=1" at the end of any flickr url gives you snow.

So your Christmas e-cards could look a little like this or this or this.

Home on the range

Since coming back to England I've gotten less sleep then normal, drank more alcohol in the last few days then in the last few weeks (not just thanks to me dad)

2008_1211EnglandDecember0118
You will be able to see that we do have some milk and cheese in there for tea and the missus does have her own drink as well. That lonely little Smirnoff.

Also it's been freezing here. And as I kind of threw out most of my clothes before leaving for Spain I didn't have many warm clothes.
In fact all I had were three jumpers.
And I shrunk one when at me mums.
Which now leads to, I have had a cold (or flu, don't know which?) which weirdly only lasted a few hours but made me feel really run down and horrible last night.

Although a few of the good points are opening presents early. Including the missus brand spanking new camera which has a pretty cool supermacro mode.

Click for a bigger picture were you can see all the leg hairs. Maybe this fly was a little too scared of hearing of a Venus.

I do want to try and take some photos of the moon with the 18x zoom but not until I have some warmer clothes.

Game I'm Playing:Back after the Break

It's been a while since I updated my game list, but that doesn't mean I've not been playing games.

There's been about half a dozen games I've been playing over the last few weeks but the most recent games have been;

On the Wii
PB073961
Disaster: Not selling very well. Still a very fun game in my opinion. A little bit like Resident Evil gaemplay with added Time Crises/light gun action areas. Short first time you play but many "collectables" to go back and hunt.
De Blob: A fantastic game. Simple idea. You go a colour blob. You change your colour by rolling in paint. And your mission, to paint all the buildings. The way it works is to gain access to further parts of the stage you have to gain X amount of points by painting and completing missions. The missions will range from racing to a certain point to painting certain buildings a particular colour. And the controls are simle, move and jump. That's all you need.
Wario Land: A simple 2-d platformer. Something a bit old school. It has basic level design for everyone to complete with harder areas within each level for serious gamers to hunt out. Its a simple but effect game.

Also some Virtual Conolse and WiiWare games that I've downloaded
PB073969
Super Mario RPG: I love the Mario RPG games. Paper Mario (Gamecube) was my first. Super Paper Mario (Wii) I got first day it came out and couldn't put it down. The game is now in the hands of my sister. Mario and Luigi (DS) alot of fun handheld elements
But Super Mario RPG is where it all started. The first one and designed by one of the major RPG creators. I couldn't say no.
Mega Man 9: I never played a proper Mega Man game until I downloaded Mega Man 2 on the Virtual Console not so long ago. I bought downloaded this game because of all the reviews online. I have to say, this is without a doubt the hardest game I've ever played. I've played it for about 2 hours or so and not met up with a single boss yet. Its ridiculous. But they said it would be.
